Kogi State University NASU Threatens Strike Over Non-payment of Allowances

The Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) of Kogi State University Ayangba has threatened to embark on industrial action to press home their grievances on the noncompliance of the management with the agreement signed in 2009.

 The chairman of the Union, Yusuf Audu who made the disclosure recently in an interview session with Journalists said the union will embark on strike from the August 17th, 2014 if their demands are not met.

He said the strike, which will be “full blown” is occasioned by the non-payment of the allowances of the senior and junior non- teaching staff of the university.

He said the management has failed to pay eleven months arrears of staff minimum wage, adding that staff of the institutions were not captured in the pension plans.

Audu said it is time for the University to wake up and address these issues once and for all.

He called on the Government to wade into the matter and save its members who according to him have suffered in silence for too long before deciding to down tool to press home their grievances.
