Prospective students of Kogi State Polytechnic have bemoaned an alleged fraudulent activity by the management to extort money from the unsuspecting students seeking admission into the school.

One of the students in a chat with newsmen revealed two controversial statements signed by the Acting Registrar of the school,  Ocholi Matthew that have left them on a cross-road.
While the first publication dated 17th January, 2018 directed the students to pay N2,000 and 2,500 for Pre-ND and HND respectively into a First Bank account, the Registrar five days later, released another account number with Heritage Bank for the same payment.
It was gathered from our source that prospective students in their hundreds had paid into the First Bank account before the second publication, and the management is quiet about a refund.
“Most persons have paid into the First Bank account and the bank said they cannot refund our money until they have been authorised by the management to do so.
“It is expected that the second publication from the Registrar would have catered for the refund, but he only apologized for the error we did not commit. Now, they want us to go and look for money for another payment,” he said.
He called on the state government and management of the institution to intervene in what he described as “an intended fraud” by the school.
The Kogi State Polytechnic screening exercise is scheduled to hold from 25th – 27th January, 2018.
