Kogi Speaker Mourns Hon Ropo Asala

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole has mourned the sudden and untimely demise of the Zonal Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Kogi West Senatorial District, Hon Ropo Asala whose death occurred yesterday, 13th July at the age of 54.

The Speaker disclosed in a press statement he signed and made available to Journalists in Lokoja.

He described the sudden passing away of the rare gem and astute politician as a great loss not only to his family members, Egbe community, Yagba West, Kogi West but the entire state and Nigeria.

According to him, the deceased was a close ally who is always ready to sacrifice for the progress of APC, stressing that he was a dependable, trustworthy and patriotic leader.

He said he lacked the words to express his grief over the devastating news, noting that this loss is monumental to him, his family and APC as a party at this critical time that his service to humanity will be needed most.

He said it very painful to have lost a great man like the Zonal Chairman of the party, stressing that he only take solace in the words of God which says, there is time to be born and a time to die.

‘I want to personally condole the family of our late Zonal Chairman, Hon Ropo Asala over his sudden and untimely demise. I will miss him, Kogi West will miss him, Kogi State will miss him, our party will miss him, I say goodnight at noon, your sudden departure sadden my heart, Hon Ropo Asala we will definitely miss you,’ he said.

He urged the family to be strong in the Lord, praying that God in His infinite mercy shall grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He commiserated with the family of the deceased on behalf of the entire members of the 7th Assembly, management, staff of the Kogi State House of Assembly and stakeholders of our party in Kogi West over the sudden loss of their beloved brother, husband, father and uncle.

Hon Ropo Asala was a former Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, may his soul rest in perfect peace.
