Kogi Speaker Charges Community to Maintain Peace

Prince Matthew Kolawole, Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly has charged communities in the country to continue to maintain peace in their domain.
The Speaker disclosed this in Ogidi, Ijumu Local Government Area while addressing the people on the occasion of 2018 Ogidi Day Celebration.
According to him, Ogidi Day Celebration has become a rallying point for not only Ogidi people but entire Okun land as they showcase their cultural heritage annually.
He commended the organisers for a well thought out mission and vision to put the festival on the world map of tourism, stressing that the 6th Assembly under watch is already working on a bill to redefine the sector for better performance and to make the tourism sector one of the major contributors to the state’s income.
According to him, when the bill is passed, it will provide legal framework for the promotion of the sector, promising that the Assembly will continue to make laws that will promote good governance in the state.
He charged Ogidi community to continue to support and cooperate with the current administration in the state led by Governor Yahaya Bello,  in his efforts to positively transform the state.
He eulogized President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the autonomy bill of the state Assemblies and judiciary to law, noting that the action will further strengthen democratic norms at the state level.
He noted that despite the autonomy, the three arms of government would have to continue to work together for the overall benefit of the people.
He commended the Ologidi of Ogidi, His Royal Highness, Oba R. O Sule for his quality leadership that has made Ogidi one of the most peaceful communities in Kogi State, calling on the people to continue to support him and other chiefs.
He described Chief Mrs Nike Okundaye as a valuable asset not only to Ogidi but Kogi state and Nigeria at large, noting that she has made the country proud globally in the world of arts.
He concluded by charging politicians to play by the rules as the 2019 General Elections draw near, charging the youths not to allow themselves to be use as thugs during the process.
