The member representing Idah Federal Constituency, Hon. David Idris Zacharias has denied any plans to disrupt the November 16 governorship election under any form.

He equally said he is not involved in breeding of thugs in any part of his constituency as alleged by the NIM in a publication, which trended on the social media some hours ago.

The lawmaker’s denial which was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jeremiah Ocheme in Abuja on Monday, stated that at no point will he resort to an unholy way means in an election he knew his supporters will have his back in solidarity for what he has done over the years.

Zacharias who said he would have not responded to the allegation because of the manner it came and the kindergarten way the authors came up with the allegations, chose to do so because of the multiplier effects the misleading statement would have on unsuspecting members of the public who may be gullible to the antics of those he said are afraid of the eminent defeat that awaits them in the election.

The statement added that the allegation did not only come from a faceless group whose motive was to bring about disaffection in the constituency, but a deliberate move to scare voters from coming out to vote.

Speaking further, the statement, added: “I read the message like every other reasonable Nigerian with dismay, disappointment, regrets and wonder why one would put together such a story, which was not only fallacious, but untrue, misleading, callous, and cable of causing panic in the minds of the very responsible electorates.

“My constituents have since dusted their PVC waiting to vote massively for the APC in support of the governor.

“For the records, I won his election flying on the wings of the popularity of my constituents who are so much in love with me.

“My landslide victories at the Election, Tribunal and Appeal court were a product of my polarity and grassroots acceptability and popularity with the people, which dates back to my humanitarian and philanthropic gestures over the years”.

He noted that as a federal lawmaker, he has consistently shuttle between Abuja and the local governments that make up his constituency within the period of the Kogi gubernatorial electioneering campaigns to re-awaken the electoral consciousness of his constituents towards voting for the APC, his party.

According to him, why should he man resort to violence and thurgry where his popularity and acceptability will play a major role in the success of his party.

As a Christian whose trust in God is un-shaken and a man with high regards for the sacredness of human life, Hon. Zacharias said he viewed the allegation against him as a direct contrast to his personality, beliefs and valued orientation as a cultured Igala man and ultimately, as a servant of God.

The lawmaker therefore concluded that the recent outburst of the so-called NIM was a sponsored outing by oppositions whose defeat he said was already visible, adding that the publication was meant to distract voters if at all they exist.

He called on security to go after those behind the “unpatriotic, faceless and security threatening authors” to prove their ungodly allegation against him.

The lawmaker categorically noted that the publication was misleading, fallacious; dangerous to the existing peace the federal constituency is known for, and an attempt to destroy the goodwill he has built in recent time.

He urged his constituents to remain peaceful, focused and go about with their daily activities and come out en-mass to cast their votes for their parties with while he assured that his party, the APC would be one hundred per cent successful in the election.
