The Chief Medical Director of the Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Zakari Usman has charged Medical Officers of Secondary Facilities in the state to implement the state Council on Health resolution on the need to establish Hospital Relations Committees.
Dr. Zakari gave the directive during a management meeting with Medical Officers at his office in Lokoja.
Speaking on the issue of inadequate human resource for health in some facilities, the CMD recommended task shifting and redistribution of staff in places needed, especially areas where special skills are not required.
In lieu of this, the CMD revealed that a Circular with the directive that human resource in highly staffed departments should be seconded to places where their services are required.
The CMD further reiterated that challenges in facilities such as Low turn out of patients due multi-factorial issues including lack of confidence in facilities, unavailability of drugs and attitude of health care workers should be translated into opportunities through value orientation and capacity development of staff.
Dr. Zakari also noted that the Government is looking at ways to put machines in facilities at functional use for the benefit of the people And ultimately generate more internal revenue to the state.
In their response, the Medical Officers commended the efforts of the Chief Medical Director of Hospitals Management Board for his commitment towards strengthening the health system of secondary health facilities in the state.
