The Head of Kogi State Civil Service, Mr. Elijah Evinemi has charged youth to develop vision and pursue it vigorously in order to have brighter future.
Evinemi gave the charge on Wednesday at Ihima civic centre Ohueta in Okehi local government area of the state during a youth engagement with the Head of Service.
The Head of Service who urged youth in Ihima to always aim higher, said meaningful achievements can not be attained when self development in the area of education are not given due consideration.
While cautioning the youth against ‘quick money’ syndrome that has pervaded the society today, Mr Evinemi, said the effect of such activities are always disastrous.
“Without vision one can easily miss the road. As youth you must plan what you want to achieve in life and pursue it vigorous even in the face of challenges.
“As long as you were not burn with a golden spoon, you must be up and doing. I joined civil service with secondary school certificate, but today God Almighty has taken me to the pinnacle of my job because I was able to develop myself through education.
“With commitment and fervent prayers to God, I am assuring that you can achieve your heart desire because God did not send any body to this world to come and suffer, but if you refused to have vision, you are bound to suffer. Self development is very vital in the life of every human being.
“You may not have the opportunity for someone to advise or encourage you , but you must encourage yourselves so that you can have a better future. As youth prioritize going to school, read courses that can easily gives you lucrative jobs so that when job opportunities comes you can benefit” he advised.
While advising the youth to accord respect to elders and leaders in their areas, the Head of Service charged them to desist from any behaviour that can impede the existing peace in Ihima community.
“His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is working tirelessly with President Bola Tinubu for the revitalization of Ajaokuta Steel company by God grace this effort will create a lot of jobs for the youth , but you must ensure that opportunity meet preparation” the HOS said.
Earlier in his remarks , the president Ihima Welfare Association (IWA) Mallam Bello Omuya Abubakar described the Head of Service as a leader who have the interest of people especially the youth at heart.
He advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used as agents of destruction, assuring them that the current administration of Governor Usman Ododo has a lot of plans for the youth.
Also in his remarks, one of the community elders, Mallam Ibrahim Ondeku commended the Head of Service for the youth engagement, describing the effort as first in the history of Ihima community.
He, however, solicited the support of the Head of Service in the area of youth and women empowerment.
