The candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last Kogi governorship election, Musa Wada has described the court judgement nullifying the party’s primary election as “funny”.

Reacting to the Kogi State High Courts’s judgement on PDP primary election, Wada vowed to reclaim his mandate in the Court of Appeal.

He expressed confidence in the Judiciary, stating that the High Court ruling is a “mere temporary setback”.

Wada, while insisting that he was validly elected and returned as the governorship candidate of PDP in the 2019 elections, confirmed that he has instructed his lawyers to file appeal at a higher court without delay.

Also, the first runner up in the September 3, 2019 PDP primary election, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim has assured his supporters that will approach the Appeal Court to further his demand that he won the party ticket.

Ibrahim said the High Court Judge deviated from his unambiguous demands.

“I am completely dissatisfied with the said judgement and I have instructed my lawyers to carefully study the judgement, both in content and in context, and advise me accordingly, on the next and necessary line of action which, definitely will include filing notice and grounds of appeal immediately.

“The judge sadly descended into the arena, jettisoned my legitimate claims and reliefs and substituted his own. None of the parties in the suit sought the reliefs granted by the Honourable court.

“The judgement or order nullifying the PDP Primaries held on the 3rd and 4th of September, 2019, as pronounced or rendered by the said Honourable court was done gratutiously and therefore, in my humble opinion, liable to be set aside.

“The reliefs sought by me, as a claimant, was unambiguously clear, straightforward and pointed and admits of no variance or panel-beating as done by the judge,” he said.

Ibrahim urged his supporters and party faithfuls to remain calm and focused as he is hopeful to reclaim his mandate at the Court of Appeal.

In his ruling on Thursday, Justice John Olorunfemi of the Kogi State High Court, sitting in Lokoja, nullified the PDP governorship primaries which produced Engr. Musa Wada as the standard bearer of the party.

Delivering judgement on the preelection matter filed by Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, challenging the emergence of Engr. Musa Wada as standard bearer of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Justice Olorunfemi held that the party never had a candidate in the November 16, 2019 governorship poll.
