Kogi Guber: PDP, SDP Members Defect to APC in Okene

Ahead of the governorship election in Kogi State, the last batch of People Democratic Party (PDP) Social Democratic Party (SDP) members in Obehira-eba ward of Okene Local Government have abandoned their former political party signalling the end of opposition in the area.

Hundreds of party supporters decided to join the All Progressive Congress (APC) due to what they called unprecedented achievements of Gov. Yahaya Bello in the areas of security, infrastructural developments, youth empowerment and uniting the people for sustainable developments.

The Administrator of Okene Local Government, Mallam Abdulrazaq Muhammad and his team, the Director-General of GYB/CEDO Campaign Council for Okene Local Government, Hon. Jatto Suleiman, All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman, Hon. Yakubu Gowon, SSA to the Governor on GYB Connect, Hon. Adams Sariki, Ward Chairmen, State and Local Government Appointees as well as Stakeholders of the party were on hand to receive the decampees from Obehira-eba ward.

Addressing party supporters and the new members of the party, the Chairman of APC Campaign Council and the Administrator of Okene Local Government urged new and old members of the party to close rank and conduct party activities peaceful devoid of the usual rancour and personality attacks associated with campaigns in the past.

He said the Governor’s achievements and the series of human development and empowerments by the State Accountant General, Alh. Jibril Momoh are more than enough to woe any opposition and secure their votes for Gov. Yahaya Bello come November 16, 2019.

The Council Chairman again reiterated his commitment to ensure the Local Government remain peaceful before, during and after the election.

Hon. Sumaila Keke Ebira and other political support groups were among those that embraced the broom party and were officially handed the party logo by the Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Gowon Yakubu. They promised to work for the success of the party and of course the re-election of Gov. Yahaya Bello.
