Against the backdrop of playing ethic sentiment ahead of November 16th,  2019 governorship election in Kogi State, the coalition of umbrella development associations have called on the people of the state to discourage those using ethnic sentiment to score political points.

Speaking at a press conference at NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja on Monday, stated that the need for unity and peace of all component parts of the state is very sacrosanct.

The National Presidents of Ebira Peoples Association (EPA), Mr. Adeiza Abdulrahman, Igala Cultural Association (ICDA), Mr. Abubarka Sodiq and Okun Development Association (ODA), Mr. Femi Mokikan who jointly addressed the newsmen in Lokoja, stated that there was need for bridges across the geographical divides of the state using the instrumentality of associations.

The coalition believed that this move is critical to promoting peace, unity and understanding without which development will remain a mirage.

The added that the initiative of the leader of EPA, ICDA and ODA crystalized into Coalition of umbrella development associations which has been aptly named Kogi Coalition of Umbrella Development Associations (KOCUDA) which intended to accommodate all other similar development associations in the state.

“The objective of KOCUDA is to complement the efforts of the state government and other bodies in the state in consolidating on the gains so far recorded in promoting peace, unity and understanding across the geographical divides of the state,” they posited.
