Former President, Nigerian Medical Association and Kogi governorship aspirant, Dr Idris Omede has called for peace and sober reflection as Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-al Adha.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Omede urged Kogi citizens to remain hopeful and resolute as the next three weeks will be defining moments in the political space.

“My dear Kogites, our present position is not a destination but a pathway to a destination. Be rest assured that the destination will works for the collective good of all. In recent weeks, there have been a lot of political activities. It is our hope and expectations that we will be proud and joyous on a larger scale at the end of these.

“To our teeming supporters, loving and good people within and outside the state, we urge you to stay resolute as you celebrate and  pray for God to remember us for good. Next three weeks will be a defining moment in our political sojourn and/or alliance.

The Eid el Kabir(Adha) season which typifies selfless sacrifice, truly calls for sobber reflection, love and sacrifice.

“In Kogi state, we are convinced that the state will be great. The time is here. To this end, Believe Network is a movement and political slogan that will outwit the present political disorder and shenanigans. Keep calm and identify with us, as we strategize for the processes ahead. Power belongs to God, and he gives to whoever he wishes, despite all human plots. Our task as mortals, is to ensure some decorum and  peace in the processes that leads to its attainment for an enduring and meaningful outcome, impact and development.

Our Democracy should be reflective of the majority wish of the entire people. Believe movement network is resolved to see that the people take ownership of the government and not to be at the mercy of some selective few. In climes where the growing democracy is succeeding even in some states of our nation, such path are under good control. We implore you to join this voice of rational reasoning and thinking.

“We wish to once more call for peace and prayers for our collective good as parties prepare for primaries and governorship elections in Kogi state,” the statement read.
