It is no longer news that we are coasting to victory in the re-election of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state. This article is to further give us hope and enlightenment and also to clear the mind of doubters that GYB is the man to beat and a force to reckon with as we move Kogi State to the next pedestal of good governance.
This is also an avenue to talk to us on the need for us to shun violence and avoid mayhem that can cause the disruption of a peaceful gubernatorial election.
GYB as we know him is a young, vibrant and energetic young man with the intention to carry our dear state to greater heights, he has at various times during his tenure proven that he is people oriented and a detribalised leader, he has successfully broken the jinx of tribal sentiments and have extolled the best options which is in recognising Kogites as one irrespective of tribe or religious affiliation. GYB brought the unity never found before in Kogi state and for this, we should be grateful.
The current security challenges in the country have been a growing concern and have caused the government on all strata lots of challenges in tackling the menace. Kogi state on her part have been a regular denizen of insecurity since her creation as a state. We all know the unfortunate scenarios registered in many pre and post election crisis in the state, the clannish clashes, kidnappings, wanton destruction of lives and properties by hoodlums and so many mayhem that have left very ugly scars in the memory of Kogites.
We are grateful to God and to His Excellency for wiping those memories away through adequate provision of security apparatus that have nipped insecurity in the bud in Kogi state. All the above past and ugly scenarios are now history courtesy of GYB, for this, we should be very grateful.
Another very big challenge surmounted by GYB is the provision of infrastructural facilities such as roads, provision of water supply, building and rehabilitation of schools, provision of basic healthcare facilities/services and many others, GYB led administration have scored high on these and is willing to do more if given the opportunity to serve again.
On agriculture, GYB have made Kogi state agriculturally friendly by providing subsidies for farmers, building of one of the largest government owned rice mill factory in Nigeria and through approval of policies that have got direct positive bearings on local farmers.
I can go on to highlights the achievements of this administration and her willingness to consolidate on her present gains for a better Kogi state in the next dispensation. We are not unaware of the media backlash orchestrated by those who are angered by the achievements of this government and who are desperate to return Kogi state back to the dungeons of Mal governance for their own selfish gains.
For this, we have resolved never to go back to the old ways of doing things, we will take the destiny of our dear state into our hands and fight for a rewarding administration which only GYB can provide.
This is a clarion call to all Kogites to shun all violent activities, be peaceful, orderly and also to be strongly committed to the noble cause of returning Governor Yahaya Bello back to Lugard House come November 16, 2019.
Kogi state will be great again, I believe.
