The National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Salamatu Baiwa has dissociated herself from actions of a group suggesting her preference for one of the governorship aspirants, Admiral Jibrin Usman (rtd).

In a press statement issued in Wednesday, Baiwa denied links with the group who carried a banner during a political event at the APC national secretariat alleging her support for Jibrin Usman.

She assured the eventual winner of the APC primary election of her full support.

“My attention has been drawn to a photograph making the rounds on Facebook and other social media platform of a group of persons purporting to be ‘Team Baiwa Group’.

“In the said photograph, the so called group can be seen holding a banner with an inscription claiming to support the candidature of one of the aspirants in the forthcoming Kogi State Governorship election.

“Please note that as the National Woman Leader of our great party, I do not have a candidate until after the primaries and whoever is elected to fly our Party’s flag during the Governorship election automatically becomes my preferred candidate and will have my full and unalloyed support.

“The general public, the good people of Kogi State and members of our party are hereby urged to please disregard the purported show of support as it was not authorised by me,” she said.

Baiwa appealed to the youth supporters of the ruling party to be mindful and to always seek guidance so as not to take actions which could be inimical to the party and the state.
