The candidate of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Barr. Justina Dolapo Abanida has called for the cancellation of November 16 governorship election in Kogi state.

Abanida made the call while briefing newsmen in Lokoja after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Alhaji Yahaya Bello winner of the election.

The former Attorney General of the state said the violent election has proved that Governor Bello used most of the N30billion bailout and N10billion refund to prosecute an unprecedented electoral fraud in the state and in the history of Nigeria.

She lamented that majority of Kogi citizens are now in fear of another four years of socio-economic stagnation and darkness.

Abanida called on INEC to bar Yahaya Bello from participating in any election for ten years.

“National Assembly must accept responsibility for the failed election in Kogi state because of the approval of N10 billion naira for Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi stat,e few days to the election.

“The election of 16th November, 2019 commenced after electoral material was brought by 8:00am and voting commenced at about 8:30am. Subsequently, N.T.A interviewed me after I cast my vote. Thereafter, large sum of money was brought by A.P.C and P.D.P agents who held them at close ranges to the voting areas. No long after that, we started receiving reports from my party agents in Lokoja that thugs were snatching ballot boxes, intimidation of voters, gun shots and that people are being killed by thugs of the APC.

“From the examination of results one can see that the governorship election results were fraudulently allocated at Okene, Adavi Okehi, Olamaboro, Kabba and other local government areas as reported by our agents in these places,” she said.

Abanida berated security agencies for failing in their responsibility in Kogi state and called for outright cancellation of the entire election.
