As campaigns and rallies for November 16, gubernatorial election in Kogi state is warming up, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the August 29 party primary election, Her excellency Blessing Aishat Ekele has advised politicians to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement as stipulated by law to stem possible violence that could lead to loss of lives and properties.

The staunch member of APC and a woman leader of the party in Olamaboro local government of Kogi state who stated that she believes in party supremacy and leadership resolutions in politics disclosed this at a press conference in Lokoja on Monday while unveiling her plan to open ‘Bello/Onoja2019 Advocacy Group’ campaign office  in Lokoja, which she said is at an advanced stage.

The Magajia 1of Yakanajie, Uke kingdom in Nassarawa state was recently appointed as member, honorary advisory committee of the APC campaign council for the 2019 Kogi state gubernatorial election by the state party  executive council for her exemplary leadership quality in “conduct, standing and  experience and unwavering loyalty”.

While the APC chieftain promised not to betray the trust bestowed on her by the Hon. Abdulahi Bello led party executive in the state by that appointment, Ekele implored the various parties that fielded candidates for the governorship election to “shun the use of foul language, words, expressions that may stoke up ethnic politics or violence” that may erode the much cherished cultural and traditional affinity of the old that bids us for centuries; and which the present administration has been striving to  preserve.

She said Governor Yahaya Bello, by his antecedents for the past years in office, remains the most detribalised leader the state has ever produced, stressing that he has initiated a lot of projects, with many completed and some on-going, which have endeared him to the heart of many in the state.

The former APC governorship ticket contender enjoined the Igala Community in the Eastern senatorial district of the state not to listen to sentiments being peddled around by mere fortune seekers that are flagging ethnic card to prosecute their political interest, adding that the Bello/ Onoja ticket will trigger off quality representation and decision making that will take Kogi to join comity of great states.

Stressing that Chief Edward Onoja, the present Chief of staff and running mate to governor Yahaya Bello in the November 16 governorship election, is one leader in this generation that has brought great changes in Igala kingdom by his immense contributions via Igala Cultural Development Authority (ICDA) and youth associations. She said the Igala nation should reciprocate this gesture by voting enmasse for Bello/Onoja ticket for another opening of development in Igala land.

While she commended the Asiwaju of Yoruba land and the National leader of APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, for his political sagacity that has brought back some aggrieved party members like James Abiodun Faleke, Mohammed Ogah Seidu and others to throw their weight behind Bello/Onoja ticket, Ekele eulogised President Mohammed Buhari for standing stoutly behind APC interest in the state.

It could be recalled that Her excellency, Blessing Aishat Ekele launched ‘Bello/Onoja 2019 Advocacy Group’ in Igah ward of Olamaboro local government of the state recently which drew monarchs, youth and women groups, including political office holders from the area, to ensure that APC shines at the polls.
