Kogi Govt. Donates Relief Materials to Flood Victims in Idah, Igalamela-Odolu LGAs

The Kogi Government on Monday, donated foodstuff and other relief items to victims of 2018 flood in Idah and Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Areas of the state.
Mr Sanusi Yahaya, the Commissioner for Environment handed over the items to leaders of the affected communities in Idaho on Tuesday.
Mrs Dorcas Enehe, Director, Climate Change,State Environment Ministry, represented the commissioner at the occasion.
The commissioner recalled that the state government had in October donated relief items to flood victims in Lokoja, Bassa, Ajaokuta and Ofu Local Government Areas.
“Today, we are doing same for Idah and Igalamela-Odolu LGAs,” Yahaya said.
He noted that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had on Thursday inaugurated  the distribution of relief items to victims in Lokoja, assuring that the exercise would be extended to all flood affected LGAs.
The commissioner, who appealed to the leaders and representatives of the communities to ensure the items get to the affected persons, urged the people to shun violence.
Some leaders of the communities who spoke with NAN commended the state government for the relief materials and promised to ensure fairness and equity in sharing the items.
Yakubu Abdullahi, an officer of Local Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) in Idah, commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for the relief materials and promised their equitable distribution and judicious utilisation.
Items donated to the victims included bags of rice, beans, flour, Guinea corn, maize, millet mattresses, blankets, mats, buckets, detergents, provisions, red oil among others.
