Social Democratic Party (SDP) has vowed to seek justice over the armed attack on its governorship candidate in the November Kogi election, Murtala Ajaka Yakubu.
National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Shehu Gusa Gabam, made this known at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
Gabam, who condemned the recent assault and shooting incident targeting the SDP gubernatorial candidate, said party is determined to seek justice through legal means and hold the perpetrators accountable for the assault.
He expressed the SDP’s firm belief that the state government played a central role in orchestrating the attack against their candidate.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to actively intervene in the matter and give it their utmost attention.
“It is impossible for a candidate of a political party to orchestrate an attack on a sitting governor of a state. The governor’s claim of being a victim is baseless. We have gathered substantial evidence, including the shooting of Alhaji Yakubu Murtala Ajaka’s bulletproof car and the other vehicles in his convoy, as well as photographic evidence, all of which clearly indicate that our candidate is the true victim,” he asserted.
