A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Abiodun Ojo has endorsed the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alh. Usman Ododo in the November 11th governorship election in Kogi State.
Chief Ojo, a former Finance Commissioner in the state, also described the APC flag bearer as a candidate to beat in the election, saying his choice is a step in the right direction.
Speaking while handing over his teaming supporters both from within and outside Ijumu local government to the APC at his country home Egbeda Egga on Saturday, the PDP chieftain said the event was a follow up to the earlier visit to his Lokoja residence in June.
He expressed his readiness to work assiduously for the overwhelming victory to the ruling party.
“The visit is very important because he (Ododo) is one of the leading candidates in the November 11th Governorship election, he has been talking to me and has visited many times and I told him, you have been talking to me, come and talk to my people, so that’s why they have come.
“I want my people to access him, they have seen him, they have assessed him and you can see that he has done well. He spoke very brilliantly,” he said.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku in his remarks, described Chief Abiodun Ojo as a politician who plays politics without bitterness and solicited the support of the PDP chieftain beyond Ijumu Local Government.
Pharmacist Asuku expressed optimism that the APC will emerge victorious at the polls as the party has fielded one of its best for the state number one seat.
In his remarks, the APC governorship candidate, Alh. Ahmed Ododo promised not to disappoint the people of the state if elected.
Alhaji Ododo, who paid glowing tribute to Chief Abiodun Ojo, described him as a dependable father, who is interested in the unity and progress of the state.
According to Ododo, he is in the gubernatorial race to build on the legacies of Governor Yahaya Bello, pointing out that the wise counsel of Chief Ojo is mostly needed now than ever before.
The APC governorship candidate also visited the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom where some members of the Ijumu Local Government Traditional Council prayed for his success at the poll.
Ododo told the monarchs that he is ready to sustain respect and priority to traditional institutions and their wellbeing if elected.
He noted that his aspiration is for unity and progress of Kogi and thanked the royal fathers for their support to the present administration in the state and local government levels
The Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni said only God ordain leaders and wished Alh. Usman Ododo success at the election.
Commissioner of Environment, Chief Victor Omofaiye stated that the party in Ijumu is united to deliver for APC.
Chief Omofaiye expressed the readiness of the party in the Local Government to mobilize support for the candidate to continue the good work of Governor Yahaya Bello.
