Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Mopamuro local government of Kogi state has re-affirmed their commitment to ensuring the party win November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state.
At the stakeholders meeting held in Mopa, a former member of the House of Representatives (Dekina-Bassa), Hon. Tom Zakari, said that the candidacy of Senator Dino Melaye is Kogi’s project and they will stop at nothing to support the western senatorial district to produce the next governor in the spirit of equity.
The former federal lawmaker appealed to aggrieved persons to allow peace to reign in the party and make unity a tool to achieve victory.
“In the whole world, crisis and conflict is associated with political party but as a good leader, you are expected to stay and resolve the crisis. If you leave the party, you will meet a greater crisis outside our political party,” Zakari said.
Also speaking at the meeting, a foremost PDP mobilizer from Kogi Central, Hajia Billy Onusagba said that their visit to Mopamuro is to encourage them and to assure them that they are ready to give their support to Dino Melaye who is from Kogi West Senatorial District.
She assured the people of Kogi West that they will not relent in their support for Dino Melaye to become the Governor of Kogi state.
While speaking to the stakeholders of the party in Mopamuro, Chief Dayo Akande thanked members for the support they have been giving the party and pleaded that they should continue to give their supports to the party and the candidate, Dino Melaye.
Chief Dayo Akande explained that the candidature of Dino Melaye as the gubernatorial candidate is not a mistake but a mandate that must be pursued and delivered.
He added that adding Hon. Habeebat Mohammed Deen to the team as the running mate is a smart move that will make the victory easier.
“We are united and we remain focused and stronger to achieve success and deliver PDP during the forthcoming election.
“We are aware of the resignation of some members from this great party and we are sure that they will come back and join us in no distant time.
“I want to be particular about the exit of the most recent of them all from our party. His decision to join another party is an unwise one considering the fact that he wasn’t a major actor or contributor in the party but he only came to the party and luck made him to reap from our party and he harvested from the labours of previous actors.
“I make bold to say that he started his life of affluence through the benefits he got from being a member of our party but today he is claiming to be resigning from the party with his supporters that he deceived by inviting them to attend a get together that he dubiously turned to a decamping ceremony.
“The said most recent of the decampee came from behind to snatch opportunities that would have been for major stakeholders in the past. For him to leave PDP is a sign that an ingrate has left Kogi PDP and we will only miss him for the way he used to deceive our people just to become the leader of PDP in Mopamuro LGA,” he said.
On the issue of defection from the party, Chief Akande admonished party faithfuls to remain focused and not be distracted by those mischievous moves.
The stakeholders meeting was attended by members of the party from across the ten wards that makes up the local government area. They declared their unflinching support for the party and the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Senator Dino Melaye.
