Candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 11 Kogi governorship election, Hon. Leke Abejide, has promised to pay West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for all students in the 9 local governments in the eastern axis of the state.

Abejide made the promise when he visited the House of Representatives candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Dekina-Bassa in the last general elections, Usman Austin Okai, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The ADC candidate stated that he will pay the WAEC fees for students in entire 9 LGAs in Igala-Bassa land by August this year, three months before the governorship election in the state.

He stated that he has been paying WAEC fees for all students in the 3 LGAs in Yagba federal constituency consistently in the last five years and just extended the gesture to Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu months ago, promising to do same in Igala-Bassa land this year.

Abejide, who was accompanied by Arc. Idris Salman, the House of Representatives member-elect for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency and other top politicians, called on the people of Kogi East senatorial district to reciprocate the decades of political support the zone had enjoyed from the western axis of the state.

He explained the Western senatorial district has been following the East in so many political decisions.

This was in response to Okai’s submission that the clamour for ‘Igala Agenda’ is gaining momentum ahead of the governorship election.

Abejide, however, suggested that ‘Igala Agenda’ should not forget the most marginalized senatorial district in the state, the West, that has never had a taste of the Lugard House.

He noted that while everyone is entitled to aspire and clamour for positions, the popular ‘Agenda’ must consider brothers from the West who had long stood by the East on several occasions.
