The major secret of positive progress in human and societal endeavours is organisation, unity of purpose and being unanimously objective towards a common goal. The numbers or populations, no matter how plenteous, will amount to nothing if our strives is not tilting towards the index raised.

As a people, there is the absolute need for an appraisal in all spheres of our lives as it may have evolved over time. In doing an assessment, the individual players privileged to have occupied one position or the other, largely remains the drivers and the leading lights of the overall progress of a given people, the Igala race is not an exception here. We have been lucky to have produced governors, senators, ministers and so on, but there have not been corresponding positive impacts of these positions on our people and on the land.

But our case is like that of an unorganized majority, nothing good will look our way no matter how large our population is, rather, an organized minority will be more compacted, united and focused and keep achieving their progressive aims and objectives as exemplified by the Okuns lately.

The prevailing political developments of late have proven to us that the various gladiators claiming leadership and protecting their personal interest have nothing to offer other than selfishness and unnecessary ego and the “I alone can do it mentality”. Reason it so happened that, before their very eyes, the destinies and lives of the people, Igala,  is being threatened, peace have given way to violence just for some men to become or called honourables as well as his or her excellencies. Arms are given to gullible youths to fight and kill whoever they see as a stumbling block, but quite amazing is the fact that their own children are not anywhere near the fore front.

Our lives now hangs on the balance, no hope in sight. We must put an end, collectively, to this orchestrated insults and slavery. Enough of serving IBRO interest, enough of serving all those lily livered men, ‘Aspirants’, wanting to come and govern over us but shy away from the accompanying challenges attached to the same stool they seek to sit on – challenges which must be detached to pave way for their smooth ascension. All they seek is for someone to bulldoze the road only for them to come and pass. Imagine a former governor coming to Omala a day to election only to be turned back, but the same man expect you to stake your life, face the gun for his son to be Governor. Of course, his son has right to aspire, but his antecedent, I doubt if it will guarantee his emergence.

Also, the last election exposed them all. None of them have their feet on the ground, despite having retired and serving generals in both army and other security outfits. These generals of Igala extraction went to bed while the whole Igala nation was being set ablaze. The Atawodis, Gen Akpas and others did not see any reason why they should do something to check mate the brazen case of insecurity by people who feel they have the backing of the powers that be.

My people, the masses of Kogi East, it is time we emancipate ourselves from over reliance on “an Ibro” and whoever, as well as “the only me and my family retired men”. Let’s get together and collectively liberate ourselves by enlightening the people, find a way of making them productive and then restore their worth and dignity of being.

The events or situation have really left a big scar on the reputation of our race. Igalas, all hands must be on deck to put a lasting end to the unfortunate situations, while we equally pray, in addition to the palace curse, that those who engineer the boys as well those that carry out that nefarious act of thuggery shall receive equal measure of the hurt they caused each families and Igala as a whole. Their offspring shall end up being thugs, the blood of the innocents like Daniel Uhiene will never rest until they receive the consequence of their actions.

Let’s have trust in ourselves and resolve that money or no money we shall change our society for good.
