The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, closed the defence of the case of pre-election matter brought before it for retrial by Air Marshal Mohammed Isaac Alfa (rtd) against Senator Atai Aidoko Ali, both of PDP‎, till April 18 for exchange of written addresses and adoption.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court took over from Justice Binta Nyako and Justice Qadri and moved for accelerated hearing as directed by the Supreme court.
Aidoko closed his defence after a three hours marathon cross examination by parties to conform with the originating summons having taken witnesses from the parties who are interested in the case.
The over three months trial ‎attracted the staff of the office of the National Legal Adviser of PDP and former Secretary, Kogi East National Assembly electoral appeal panel member, Dr Charles Nwoke Aku.
The former secretary to the primary election appeal panel alleged that Isaac Alfa trailed him to his hotel ‎room at Protea Hotel with an envelope suspected to be money meant to influence the outcome of the elections already concluded even though he declared himself as the winner of the primary election at Idah township stadium.
Another ‎witness, who served as the returning officer of the election, was subpoenaed but refused to appear for personal reasons. Alhaji Seidu Odoma had a purported video recorded by a freelancer played where he declared Alfa of PDP as winner having polled the highest number of votes in the primary election but turned to be a one-on-one interview conducted in a personal house in Abuja.
Earlier, six witnesses including the plaintiff, Isaac Alfa testified ‎and were cross examined before the judge.
