Kogi East PDP Members Urged to Remain Calm Ahead of Party Congress

Ahead of its ward and local government congresses, Kogi East Zonal Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Usman Mamman Pele has urged supporters and members of the party to remain calm.
Pele made the call during the PDP zonal meeting in Anyigba on Saturday.
He advised all those seeking for party positions to go back to their various wards and local governments and work on their popularity. He assured them that the power to become the party leader lies with the masses, as the time for imposition of candidates is far gone in the party.
In attendance in the meeting was party leaders from the eastern flank of Kogi state.
Honorable Friday Alih, member representing Ofu in Kogi State House of Assembly, pledged to remain a committed member of the party. Alih, who spoke on behalf of the other PDP lawmakers in state Assembly, said the party just seven members left in the House. He promised that the seven of them will continue to work hand in hand with the party and shall also remain committed to making sure that the people of their constituencies are ably and maximally represented.
Also, a former governorship aspirant, Dr. Joe Agada appealed to the party faithfuls to keep faith with PDP as regards the forthcoming state congress.
He urged all those seeking for party leadership positions to make sure they work on their popularity. He made it clear that the days are gone when lists are prepared from Abuja and forced on the people.
He assured party supporters that the congress is going to be free and fair and a level playing ground is ensured in other to pave room for candidates with credibility and support of the masses to emerge.
Dr Joe Agada also urged the party heavyweights that the time is not yet ripe for them to start flexing muscles for who becomes the party’s governorship flag bearer. He said if the party must take over power in 2019, all must work together in restructuring the party and making sure that the party win the election to the Senate, House of Representatives, and also the State assembly.
He called for cooperation between the party echelons, saying a house divided against itself can never stand the test of time.
The PDP northern youth leader, Mr Aruwa urged the youths and party faithfuls to maintain their calm and disregard any information saying that lists of those to assume party leadership have been drafted and handed over to zonal chairmen. He said that is not just false but an unfounded rumor been spread by mischief makers. The youth leader told the party faithfuls that PDP is where it is today because of imposition of candidates and shall not thread on that path again having learnt her lessons the hard way.
He advised the youths to remain law abiding citizens and peace makers and should not give up in the task of laundering the image of the party.
A major contestant for the position of the state house of assembly in 2015 election under the platform of APC, Hon Andrew Edeh from Omala decamped alongside hundreds of his supporters.
Hon Andrew Edeh said that APC is a party built on deceit and lacks leadership skills to pilot the affairs of the state. The former house of assembly contestant pledged his loyalty and also promised to work with the party to  make sure that victory is assured in 2019 polls.
The Kogi East Zonal Chairman, Alh. Pele expressed joy and gratitude to party stakeholders who were present at the meeting. He went further to apologize to aggrieved members of the party who left the party angrily in 2015 and urged them to come back to where they belong.
