Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been advised not to allow the current grievances arising from mere misunderstandings over political positions erode the chances of the party in the upcoming general elections.
In a press statement signed by the spokesperson of Atai Aidoko Ali Continuity Group, Idris Yakubu, PDP loyalistsare assured of the party’s resolved to rescue the people from the den of shylock leaders and bad governance in Kogi East and the entire state.
According to Idris, the advise became necessary in order to draw the party members’ attention to the activities of some of her members whose activities are capable of placing the chances of the party at disadvantage in the 2019 general elections.
He said those who recently defected from the party are not genuine members but moles of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He called on genuine members of the party to carry out an in-depth sensitization among party members and supporters so as not to allow personal ambitions override the interest of the people.
He said some of these defectors were actually moles whose activities were not in tandem with the principle of give and take that was the custom of the party since its inception.
“We cried out over the activities of these party members who suddenly returned to the party as spies after working vigorously against the interest of the party in the 2015 elections.
“When they came like chicken beaten by the rain, we put behind us their usual anti-party activities and re-absorbed them into the scheme of things only for them to plan to hijack the party as a sell out to the ruling APC where they are coming from,” he said.
He commended the genuine members of the party for their steadfastness, loyalty and desire to return the party to power in the interest of the welfare of the people of the area, who have been denied basic social amenities in the last three years of the present leadership in the state.
“We are not unaware that even some party members who had benefited so much and were even responsible for the dismal outing of PDP in the last election due to their inadequacies and sheer refusal to carry people along, have now resorted to using defection as a yardstick to rail road themselves back to leadership positions.
“In some areas, a party member who contested for an election and failed in its desire to clinch the party ticket resorted to threats and all sorts of aggressive conducts against the party, using defection as a trick to deceive other members.
“PDP’s gate is widely open to re-admit members who are ready to return to the party after the differences so as to salvage the people of the area from bad governance, denials and other needless policies and programs of the current leadership in the state.
“Senator Atai Aidoko Ali had been at the forefront of opposition to the inhuman traits of the current administration in the state and at the federal level. It is incumbent on us to rally round him to continue in this trend of good leadership for the progress of Kogi East.”
