A part of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, has been designated as an isolation centre in case of any reported case of outbreak of Ebola virus disease in the State
The Commissioner for Information, Hajia Zainab Okino stated this after the weekly State Executive Council meeting, held in Lokoja.
Though the State, Hajia Okino disclosed, has not had any reported case of Ebola outbreak, the State Government she disclosed is being proactive in case of any reported case.
The Commissioner urged the people to maintain high standard of hygiene even as the State government is working hard to put in place the necessary mechanism to ensure that the State is made a no-go area for the disease.
In a related development, Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, has inaugurated the Board of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, with a call on the new board to strive for excellence and improve performance in the provision of quality health care service delivery.
Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, the Governor said the members were selected based on their antecedents.
Capt. Wada said he is convinced that the board members will key into the administration’s transformation agenda on improved health care delivery, called on them to work with the staff and management of the hospital to ensure that the State does not record any incidence of Ebola virus disease.
Capt. Wada tasked them to hit the ground running, said even though some parts of the State Specialist Hospital has been designated as an isolation centre for the Ebola Virus disease, he prayed that the disease will not be experienced in the State.
Responding on behalf of other members, Alh. Sule Aliyu, Chairman of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, promised the State government of their best, assuring that they will not compromise excellence in their performance.
The Chairman promised to work towards making the Specialist Hospital Lokoja, a centre of excellence, assured that the Board will work in line with the transformation agenda of the State Government.
