The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Bethrand Onuoha, has decorated the newly promoted Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Ochoma ThankGod, seven Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP), 2 Superintendents of Police (SP), twenty-eight Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
The newly promoted officers were decorated at a grand ceremony at the State Headquarters, Lokoja, on Thursday.
In his address, the Commissioner of Police charged the newly promoted officers to exhibit the core values of service, discipline, sacrifice, professionalism and selflessness in the discharge of their duties.
He commended their dedication and hard work, which have earned them these well-deserved promotions. He further stressed that the new ranks represent increased responsibilities, noting that Police are servants of the people not master, be fair and do not corrupt justice.
The CP expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Chairman, Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) for recognizing officers through promotions.
He stated further that in the Police Force, higher ranks come with greater challenges, contrary to the saying that, “the higher you go, the cooler it becomes”.
He noted that the cooperation of the communities and families is crucial in managing these responsibilities while emphasizing the importance of community support and cooperation in maintaining security. He added that security is a shared responsibility, not just the duty of security agencies alone.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ACP Ochoma ThankGod expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector-General and the Chairman, Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of the promotion.
He further appreciated the CP for his exceptional leadership and outstanding legacy, and acknowledged that the new chapter is a call for them to double their efforts in discharging their mandates.
Traditional Chiefs, including the Madaki of Adankolo, members of the Command Management Team, other senior officers, both serving and retired, relatives and well-wishers graced the event.
