Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Engr Bashir Gegu has empowered no less then five hundred persons with cash, 100 sewing machines, 100 pumping machines and 100 grinding machines.
He said the initiative was his was of giving back to the society.
The distribution of the items which coincided with the Commissioner’s birthday anniversary program held in Gegu Beki today.
Bashir Gegu thanked former Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and incumbent Governor Usman Ododo for nurturing and empowering him.
The occasion was graced by Speaker, Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Umar Aliyu; Rt Hon Danladi Aguye, member representing the area in the National Assembly; Hon Haruna Isah, Hon Idris Aliyu, Hon Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani, Hon Muhammed Shaibu Asio, Hon Bala Ette, Hon Abdullahi Idowu Suleiman, Hon Ibrahim Saidu, APC chairman and traditional rulers.
Muhammed Alhassan who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed joy and poured encomium on Bashir Gegu. He asserted that Bashir Gegu as the best commissioner Kogi LGA will ever produced, noting that he is humble, generous and fearless.
The political mother of the LGA, Haj Maimunat Iyami Shaibu Tatu said Bashir Gegu’s success will be beyond commissioner. She enjoined every member to pray for the state, the Governor and Bashir Gegu.
