There is no doubt to say, Kogi state has not only become the haven of political mishaps but perhaps one of the most financially reckless state as a result of numerous court cases, distractions, advertorials and publishing etcetera both the ruling government and her opposition spend millions and billions of naira to initiate against themselves. Sadly, this expenditures are neither out of genuine intentions to salvage the state nor improve the welfare of citizens.

But, to fulfill personal egos while the state citizens, resources and partly inventory resources deteriorates on a daily increase. Unarguably, Governor Yahaya Bello remains the kogi state must fought governor ever but he would have only gained the deserved public sympathy if he is not instrumental to his many fights.

While they are too numerous to point out, his fights at all glance arose either from the over zealous arrogance of his appointees or the naive tendencies of his online bootlicking and politically drain brained supporters whose preferred measure of relevance is by the amount of enemies the earn their pay masters via insults and unworthy praises as against the supposed public enlightenment such free Lance is logically charged with. I make bold to conclude thus because, these miscreants are evidently more characterised with rants and attack on opposition as against the required otherwise.

While the political elders has suddenly left the task of opposition to teeming youths whose only avenue of registering their grievance is on social media platforms, the lone opposition voice and last hope of the oppressed Kogi man, distinguished senator Dino Melaye has been suddenly silenced by a kangaroo recall process which the deputy senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu describes as dead on arrival. The rigorous media attention and hatchet packages involved in the process has not only kept Senator Dino Melaye bust at making effort for counter moves but completely deterred him from his erstwhile evangelism for the payment of workers salaries, pensioners arrears, reopening of the state owned University and other decadence the present administration is responsible for.

While trying to update myself about recent development and happenings in the state, I came across a purported fresh case instituted against the governor on grounds of his eligibility and the reader comments showed how doomed kogi is. Without any ambiguity, as at today, “Kogi Is A Failing State In New Direction.”

It is good enough to assume such case if it comes to reality will be a decade gift to Kogites but in separating realities from wishes, which court will have a better competence to oust the circumstantial governor Yahaya Bello having scaled through huddles of tribunal, appellate and Supreme Court at the post emergence of his administration? I leave the question to be answered in rhetoric. In another development, a section of the pro Yahaya Bello online handlers are everywhere leveraging a weekly scheduled thirty minutes program to be aired on AIT with the name “Kogi today” proposed to allegedly focus on governance in Kogi state.

It is very true that this unusual developments are new direction but, it is so far not a prosperous new direction. Hence, placing kogi on a failing track. A lot of civil servants in the state are complaining of unpaid salaries, though it is God who takes life; at some points, Hunger, frustration, depression, thoughts and emotion kills. There is no sense at all for a government to decide that task payers money be expended on a TV show while the state owned NTAs’ are operating in bad states. And if it be that they are in good state, what then prevents such program from been aired back home in the state or is kogi in competition with any state?

The truth is, as at today, save my friend Austin who have remained resolute in the struggle to establish good governance in the state, political leaders, cultural elders, royal fathers and religious clergies seem to have left the task of demanding good governance to senator Dino Melaye all alone and his recall saga has sent him on an involuntary leave. Kogi is a state blessed with too much natural and human resources to wallow in abject poverty as it is been experienced presently.

Therefore, to revive this failure before it explodes, citizens must define support well enough to be based on good governance rather than praise singing, the opposition should look beyond sentiment and propose solutions with opposing remarks, royal fathers must rise to the task of truth saying at all time and the state government should most importantly shut oppositions with positive results in their stewardship rather than wild ghost chases. In the end of it all, kogi belongs to all irrespective of our present leanings for history will only remember us all by the marks and scars of today.

God Bless Kogi State

God Bless Federal Republic of Nigeria
