Kogi-born Community Policing Expert Up for Leader Prize

Kogi-born expert on community policing, Dr Aminu Musa Audu has been nominated for the prestigious 2020 Tällberg/Eliasson Global Leadership Prize.

The prize is given annually to leaders from any country and discipline who address the complexity of 21st-century global challenges.

Dr Audu, a trustee of the British Sociological Association (BSA), is the author of ‘Police Corruption and Community Policing in Nigeria: A Sociological Case Study’. His research has been recognised by the Nigerian government as reference material for community policing policy and practice.

An international jury will review the nominations in August and give $50,000 each to two, three or four winners. 

The prize is named after the former Swedish foreign minister Jan Eliasson, who pursued world peace. He served the United Nations as President of the General Assembly and as Deputy Secretary General. He is currently the Chairman of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

The Tällberg Foundation promotes leaders who can make positive change in the world.
