Kogi Assembly to Probe Recruitment of Teachers by STETSCOM

Kogi State House of Assembly says it investigate recent teachers’ recruitment process conducted by State Science, Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM).

This was revealed on Monday in Lokoja by State Assembly Speaker, Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, during the defense of the commission’s proposed 2024 budget by Mrs. Cecilia Cook, Executive Chairman of STETSCOM, and other management personnel.

The Speaker noted that in order to verify the processes and standards utilized for grading the 1100 teachers, it is necessary to investigate their hiring and posting.

He pointed out that some of the people who passed the Computer Based Test (CBT) were unemployed because the state’s local government districts were not evenly represented in the hiring process.

The member representing Ankpa I, Lawal Akus, suggested that the House go over the list of instructors who were recently hired in order to comply with state standards.

Cook responded by applauding the legislators’ efforts to ensure sure the state’s education system advanced.
