The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf on Saturday attended the wedding ceremony of the younger sister to the Majority Leader of the State legislature, Hon. Suleiman Abdulrazak in Okene.
Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola, other principal officers and members of the Assembly also graced the event.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed quoted the speaker to have described the bride not only as a beautiful lady, but also a cultured and respectful one who he hopes, would replicate the quality attributes of her upbringing in her husband’s home.
The statement further noted that Rt Hon Umar urged the new bride to take the family of her husband as her own, and that just the way she would not want to do anything to jeopardise the family’s name, she should avoid anything that would bring a third party into her matrimonial affairs.
He enjoined the groom to also take his new wife as a sister, urging him to love, cherish and respect her, stating that with such approach, he would not do anything that would hurt his wife.
Rt Hon Umar then prayed for continued peace, harmony, love, compassion and the fruit of the womb to the couples.
The Speaker, who applauded the parents of both the bride and the groom for the wonderful jobs they have done on their children, used the example of his colleague and Majority Leader of the House, Hon AbdulRazak Suleiman, whom he said, has been respectful and forthright in his dealings with his colleagues.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the newlyweds, a home that would be the pride of the future.
