A member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Mr. Friday Sani, yesterday in Kaduna, applauded Governor Idris Wada over prompt payment of entitlements of lawmakers.
The House Majority Leader, Yakubu Yunusa, was earlier reported to have pleaded with state governors to give full financial autonomy to state assemblies to be able to discharge their duties.
Mr. Sani, who donated gardening machines to the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) said Governor Wada has been prompt in approving monies meant for the House of Assembly.
“The governor has approved all financial requests meant for the House and as a matter of fact I have been told that the governor has given approval for some of our constituency projects,” he said.
He said the statement made by the majority leader asking for financial independence was out of context.
