Kogi NGO Network (KONGONET) has described the fire incident that razed the chamber and gallery of Kogi State House of Assembly on Monday morning as a setback.
In a statement signed by Idris Ozovehe Muraina and Success Adejoh, chairperson and public relations officer respectively, KONGONET urged the relevant authorities to carry out a transparent investigation into the cause of the fire outbreak which consumed state’s property worth millions of Naira.
KONGONET insisted that perpetrators security agencies ensure perpetrators are brought to book.
The group empathized with lawmakers, Kogi state government and citizens of the state over the unfortunate incident.
However, KONGONET said it is worrisome and embarrassing to know that there were no sophisticated fire fighting equipment in the state to put off the fire that last more than an hour.
