The Chairman of Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria and Speaker Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Abdulmumin Ismail Kamba has commended immediate Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam for his courageous resignation in the overall interest of the State.
The commendation was contained in a letter signed by the Chairman of the forum on behalf of the organization.
“We commend your patriotism and the step you took in the wake of political brigandage which degenerated into the invasion of the hallowed chamber by some political thugs”, he said.
The crisis, according to him, was sponsored by some vested interest to cause instability in the House and, in their tradition, further interfere in the legislative arm of government for their primordial interest.
He described the former Speaker as a patriot and selfless leader whose contributions will be missed by the organization.
“Your resignation not withstanding, we will not preclude you from continuing to contribute your quota to the development of your constituency in particular and the state in general.
“The Conference of Speakers will not shy away from benefiting from your wealth of experience in our collective efforts to move the nation in general to a greater height”, he said.
