Kogi Assembly Commission Lauds Gov. Bello on Independence of Legislative Arm

The Chairman of Kogi State Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Malik Adams has commended the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for assenting to the Bill granting full autonomy to the legislative arm of government.

Adams noted that constituting members of the Assembly Commission has demonstrated Governor Bello’s special interest in the independence of the third arm of the government.

The Chairman, while addressing staff of the Assembly on Friday, stated that the State House of Assembly has benefited tremendously from the present adminstration than all the previous administrations.

He revealed that granting of full autonomy to the State House of Assembly has further put the State among the states that have granted autonomy to their various Houses of Assembly.

Alhaji Adams pointed out that before Alhaji Yahaya Bello adminstration, the Assembly as an institution was in shamble and disarray  particularly in the area of adminstration which has weakened the morale of members of staff.

He commended Bello for bringing sanity with his strict adherence to civil service rules and regulations.

According to him, the renovation and facelift of the Assembly complex and the increase of the monthly imprest  of the Assembly has further demonstrated Bello’s special interest and his desire to ensure  the independence of the legislature as a catalyst for good governance.

While charging the staff to reciprocate the state governor’s magnanimity to the Legislative arm of the government, he said that he would not condone indiscipline, truancy, rumour mongering, religious bigotry and ethnic chauvinism. He admonished them to be more dedicated in the discharge of their duties.

Adams reiterated his resolve to abide with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the state civil service rules and regulations and law guiding the operation of the commission in carrying the onerous responsibilities bestowed on him by the state governor.

He commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole and other members and the Parliamentary Association of Assembly Of Nigeria (PASSAN) for their efforts in the realization of the autonomy granted to the State House of Assembly.

In his remarks, the Clerk, Pastor Mathew Shaibu promised the staff readiness to ensure the success of the Commission and prayed God to give them the wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of the Assembly.
