Kogi State Project Coordinator of Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto has charged contractors handling the agency’s projects to always work in accordance with specified terms.

Jatto gave the charge when she and the ACReSAL team paid unscheduled visits to solar-powered borehole project sites in Okene, Adavi and Okehi local government areas of the state on Saturday.

She expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work and urged the contractors to sustain their commitment and ensure the projects are delivered as scheduled.

She advised the contractors to increase the pace of work so to achieve expected timelines since the state government will not hesitate to penalize erring contractors.

Barr. Ladi appreciated the overwhelming support from the host communities and their show of love, enthusiasm and sense of ownership as displayed by the various community leaders and testimonies from contractors.

She assured them of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello’s commitment to rural development in his bid to continue to provide basic social amenities to the people and enhance quality of life especially at the rural areas.

The ACReSAL team visited Idogido Otutu in Okene LGA, Karaworo and Ebogogo in Adavi LGA ,Oshikoyi Obuba and Oboroke Uvete in Okehi LGA.

A total of about 11,500 residents of these communities are expected to benefit from these water projects when completed.

The boreholes were strategically located in communities that hitherto have no access to clean and portable water supply, hence depends on either water from uncovered wells, nearby streams or would have to trek long distance to buy water from privately owned boreholes with its attendant health effects and security risks among women and children.
