Kogi @ 26: Speaker Appeals to Kogites to Show More Commitment

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Mathew Kolawole has appealed to all Kogi indigenes to show more commitment by supporting and cooperating with the current administration in its efforts to reposition the state for the betterment of all.
The Speaker made this appeal at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) headquarter, Lokoja where he led the state government delegation to thank God and pray for the state on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the creation of Kogi State which also coincided with the birthday of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike.
“We are here first to thank God for the safe return of Mr President, Mohammed Buhari who was in London for 103 days on medical vacation, those who thought he will not returned has lost the battle. Secondly, to also thank God that Kogi State is 26 years old and finally to rejoice and celebrate our amiable and digital SSG, Mrs. Ayoade Folashade Arike who turn 52 today.
“It is not easy to be a leader and no one can achieve anything expect it is given by God, it is on this basis that I implore the Church to pray for Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the current administration of the New Direction in Kogi State led by Alhaji Yahaya Bello to succeed. This is why we are here. We need your prayers always”, he said.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the event, the speaker congratulated Governor Bello on the occasion of the 26th year anniversary of creation of the State pointing out that the giant strides of the governor towards a better Kogi State are appreciated.
The Speaker noted that the state has not gotten to where she is going but he is of the firm conviction that Kogi state is better than yesterday and as the New Direction team rolls out the implementation of its blueprint. He said the government’s capacity to do better is not in doubt.
He assured the people of the state that the House of Assembly will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to make laws that will promote good governance in the state.
The delegation took time to celebrate with less privileged at the MOM Orphanage Home, Lokoja.
