I congratulate the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the State. The past 25 years have seen the state evolve on an epic scale. Our progress as a state, since creation, has not been smooth. What we see often is paralysis, stagnation and drift.
But today, there is much for us to celebrate. Aside having a working Governor, we must also acknowledge and be thankful of the fact that His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello has taken it upon himself to diligently promote one Kogi not only in words but in action. And this is a better indicator that, while much remains to be achieved, our beloved state is slowly but surely maturing politically. Therefore, we must celebrate.
Fellow Kogites, this is no time for the harmful clutches of biased sentiments and the politics of bitterness. We must all reignite the embers of concern and the coalition of conscience to support this administration. Working together with our common faith, we cannot fail. It is my prayer that, another 25 years from now, our children will look back on our effort and be thankful that we kept the faith.
As we celebrate today, I pay glowing tributes to the courage and ebullience of past leaders of the state for their efforts in charting a course through the turbulent waters of state building.
As we celebrate today, may the gentle soul of Prince Abubakar Audu continue to rest in peace. There is no doubt that Prince Audu was a great asset to Kogi state. Even in death, we should continue to be grateful to him for his wisdom and commitment to the growth of our dear state.
