Kogi State Open Governance and Accountability Systems (KOGAS), an online application designed to hold public office holders accountable to the people of the state will soon be launched.
Poised to run an all inclusive government, the Yahaya Bello-led administration will make the platform available and open to all Kogites as an avenue to score each sector of the state based on its performance and to allow the people ask relevant questions from the leadership.
Evang. Kingsley Fanwo on assumption of office as the new Commissioner for Information and Communication in the state, explained that the Ministry and custodian of the website, will upload alongside an online digital album where pictures of state government projects will be displayed.
The platforms, first of their kind in the country will fast-track effective feedback mechanism for government and promote efficient service delivery to the people.
Fanwo who reiterated the readiness of the state government to reposition the information sector to cope effectively with the new task said there will be improved human and infrastructural upgrade in the Ministry to meet up with the new development.
He charged the staff on adequate preparedness towards embracing the imminent changes which will be gradual but steady; urging them to work hard to defeat the numerous challenges that he believed were all surmountable.
He lauded the state information management team for their past achievements, while encouraging them to utilise more of state resourses to achieve best results.
The Commissioner also commended the State government and the immediate past leadership of the information unit for the existing structure especially the new Graphic House and promised to consolidate on previous gains for optimal yield for the state.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Sylvanus Akpama said team work had helped the ministry and allied parastatals to move forward and called for an extension of better cooperation to the new Commissioner.
In their separate remarks, the Director General of Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Alhaji Ojo Oyila and the Managing Director of ‘The Graphic’, Pastor Dayo Thomas congratulated the Commissioner on his new appointment. They both promised to support him to succeed.
