Towards the attainment of grassroots development, the MONIMO Foundation has said it will collaborate with both foreign and domestic donor agencies in providing much needed grassroots development across the country.
Speaking at it inaugural congress in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital over the weekend, the Board of Trustee chairman, Alhaji Usman Abdulkadir said, the foundation is already in a fruitful discussion with some prominent agencies to realise the objective.
“We hope  that our successes will lend a hand to the efforts of the Federal and State Governments in the social, economic and political development of the country. The Foundation will be a collaborating organization that supports programs of the government and offers its advise for grassroots focused development efforts”
He equally said the foundation’s other objectives, was to bring together prominent Kakanda speaking people for the purpose of developing Kakanda Sons and ‎ Daughters including communities across the country.
“This congress is both a culmination of a long, fruitful process and the beginning of a new dawn for the Kakanda people. We got here today because of the support for a single vision: A United and Prosperous Kakanda People. We are here because of the renewed energy of a few of us, who in their passion for the progress of the Kakanda, wanted a united front to advance the development of our people. We bought into this vision because in the words of John E. Lewis, “if not now, then when? If not us, then who”?
According Abdulkadir, Monimo Foundation represents a new hope, a renewed energy to drive the kind of progress that the previous generations will be envious of and which the future generations will be proud of.
“The backward economic and political conditions of our people along the length of the Niger River, and in other places, will not come to an end unless we forge a new way forward. This is a new beginning, which shines the light of empowerment and collaboration for our youth, women and children. It is a new course which rewards the selfless pursuit of happiness by all Kakanda people.”
He  therefore stressed that the congress marks the turning point, in Kakanda people’s journey to a better socio-economic condition.
“It is a journey to the realization of the dreams of generations past and a journey to the achievement of that which has escaped us for a very long time: Equitable, just and collaborative progress. Our fate, tied with the social, economic and political advancement of Nigeria, will only improve, Insha Allah, when we come together to share ideas, resources and spread the burden of sustainable development. We must place our efforts within our patriotic duties to develop the country. We aim to be a model for global success in community development through innovation and collaboration.”
He said Monimo Foundation is a formally registered non-political and non-religious Organization which came on board at one of the most trying times for both  Nigeria Nation  and its communities.
“We are seeking partnerships across the private and Civil Society sectors to also make this possible. After all, a progressive Kakanda will not only be a pride of the nation, but an asset in attaining sustainable development,” he added.
