Following the recent consultation embarked upon by Hon. Arokoyo David Femi, one of the leading aspirants for the forthcoming Kogi State House of Assembly election, 298 delegates have vowed to give their support to his emergence as the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as winning the general election as the representative of the constituency.
Speaking at the meetings, the aspirants, Hon Arokoyo said that the rumour making the rounds that an aspirant had been allegedly anointed by party leaders, even before the primary is not true base on the antecedent of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello who he described as a sincere leader of the party who have always supported due process in all his activities.
Arokoyo described the governor as a transparent individual known for fairness and justice. He said the governor has always be an advocate of a transparent election in the good interest of the party which he has said at different times.
“I want to say, and I am sure, that the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello has not chosen anybody to become the flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming election.
“As the party is today, Governor Yahaya Bello remains the leader of the party in the state. He is a father to all aspirants and will not as a good father give what is a right of every child in the family to an acclaimed preferred child. I know he wants peace and development in the family and he won’t do such. Those spreading the rumours are doing it to disparage the good plans His Excellency has for the party and the state by extension,” he said.
He therefore appealed to the governor and the entire leadership of the party to conduct a free, fair and credible primary as any attempt to impose or endorse a candidate as preferred might have a negative concomitant effect on the party.
Various youth groups across the constituency have equally applauded his commitment to the party from inception.
He was described as the most consistent member of the party and should be give credit for sustaining his structure which is today helpful to the party in the state at large.
Hon Arokoyo, however, commended the party leaders and excos for the way and manner they have been managing the affairs of the party, especially at the grassroots as he appealed to them to maintain the tempo and the virtue of transparency which they are known for.
