The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba has publicly disowned a group calling itself “Concerned APC Stakeholders and Leaders, Kabba,” saying its members have no mandate to speak for the party and accusing them of having worked with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during the 2023 Kogi State governorship election.

In a statement signed by APC Ward and LGA Executives in Kabba, the party said it was responding to a rejoinder issued by the group, which it described as an attempt to mislead members of the public. The executives said the individuals behind the rejoinder “have no mandate whatsoever to speak for the party,” arguing that party leadership is derived from constitutional structures rather than self-declaration or media statements.

The APC statement alleges that individuals photographed at a meeting with Honourable James Faleke had worked for the ADC during the 2023 governorship election, and that some had been active with the ADC and the African Peoples Alliance (APDA) at various points since January 2016. The party said this history undermines any claim by the group to represent APC interests in the area.

“No individual can openly identify with or work for another political party and still expect to enjoy the privilege of speaking on behalf of the APC,” the statement reads, adding that such conduct “confuses the electorate” and “undermines the unity and discipline” of the party.

The executives urged members of the rival group to formally align themselves with whichever party they have worked for, rather than continue to use the APC’s name.

The party leadership said it is monitoring the group’s activities and warned that continued use of the APC’s name without authorization could trigger disciplinary measures under the party’s constitution. It added that legal action remains an option “against any continued impersonation or unauthorized representation of the party.”

Despite the dispute, the APC executives said the party “remains united, focused, and fully committed to delivering victory in future elections,” and called on members to remain calm and avoid actions that could deepen internal divisions ahead of future political contests in Kogi West and Kogi State.
