Birthdays avail us the opportunity to thank our maker for life, celebrate with well wishers and above all reminisce on one’s life. In reminiscing on the life of the celebrant, there are lots of reasons for him and many of us to burst into endless shout of hallelujahs as his life is the definition of endless grace of God.
I can boldly and unequivocally state that Prince Kolawole is a well known person to me as I have had over a decade relationship with him.
What seems like my first close contact with him was precisely in 2004 when I served as the interim Secretary of National Association of Okun Students under the Chairmanship of Prince Johnbosco Sumanu. We had the task of organising the first ever symposium and award of the association. Out of the 20 Okun sons and daughters that were ratified for the award, Rt.Hon Kolawole made the list. We have since being relatively close.
I can confidently submit that Prince Kolawole’s personality is indeed one that is uncommon as his life represents uncommon and unexplainable touches of favour. He had one of the most difficult upbringing as he had to deal with lack and want. A situation that rather than break him has come to be his strength. a highly cerebral fellow with an adroit personality who is divinely gifted with midas touch. He enjoys the supernatural grace of outstanding success in everything he does. He is a perfect description of enigma and mystery.
Kolawole, a super struggler and master hustler has transversed virtually all known legal source of eking a living. He is never ashamed to put his hand on any form of menial job so long as it brings out some cash. That obviously provides explanation for his numerous and diversified business interests. He is an athlete, a sport administrator, a consultant, an event manager, a contractor among others. Kolawole has a successful record in the entertainment and hospitality business, and he is one of the most successful politicians ever produced in Kogi. His life philosophy is hard work, prayer and helping humanity.
Rt.Hon. Matthew Kolawole is a known unrepentant philanthropist, ardent youth development advocate and die-hard community development enthusiast. His love for his community is visibly showcased through the siting of his multimillion naira Golden Grand Royal Hotel in his Kabba native home. Even when every business permutation does not favour putting up such a hotel in Kabba as there would hardly be good return of capital. More than 50 people are employed by the hotel.
His entrance in to the political arena of Kabba/Bunu has since altered the existing political clientelism in the area. He has offered hope to everyone who is strong willed but weak in pocket that nothing is impossible politically. Kolawole personally demystified the ‘political jericho’ of Kabba/Bunu there by liberalising the political space for all and sundry. He broke the jinx of political party dictatorship and went to become Majority Leader and later Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, first to be so produced in Kabba/Bunu. Kolawole ingeniously moved from PDP to APC and yet retained his position as the Majority Leader of the Assembly.
His massive spread of democratic dividends has also punctured the hitherto claim of ‘it’s not possible’.
My Prince, my boss, on this special day of the celebration of the anniversary of your birth, I can only pray that God would bless you more like Jacob, protect you like Moses, grant you wisdom like Solomon, show you favour like Daniel and grant you long life like Methuselah.
Let me be quick to inform you that you are yet to arrive at your heavenly prepared destination, so do more to earn more from God.
Am sure your next birthday will meet you happier, bigger and more fulfilled.
I celebrate you my boss!
