Senator Isaac Mohammed Alfa has been sworn in to represent Kogi East Senatorial District on Wednesday.
The development followed the Supreme Court Judgement affirming the former Chief of Air Staff as the authentic PDP Senatorial candidate to represent the eastern Senatorial district in 2014 primaries.
He was sworn in at exactly 11.20am on Wednesday by the Clerk to the Senate.
The embattled Senator Atai Aidoko’s Media Aide, Mr. Yusuf Abubakar told Daily Post late Tuesday that plans to swear in Isaac Alfa was resolved with the Senate leadership earlier on Tuesday.
“There was a discussion on Tuesday by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki with Atai Aidoko Ali that Isaac Alfa would be sworn in as Senator representing Kogi East.
“The matter has been resolved and Alfa will be sworn in tomorrow”, he said.
Isaac Alfa put up a ferocious legal battle with Senator Atai Aidoko Ali in the last four years, claiming that he won the 2014 PDP primaries, and got judgement in his favour at the Federal High Court up to the Supreme Court after Aidoko appealed the judgement twice.
The former Air Chief did accuse the Senate leadership of not obeying the Supreme Court judgements when the Senate President insisted that the Supreme Court did not order specific performance in line with judgement of courts.
The development saw Alfa going back to the Supreme Court which he finally got judgement sometime in January 2019.
With the development, therefore, the four-year legal conundrum between Senator Atai Aidoko Ali and Isaac Mohammed Alfa has been put to rest two months to the end of the 8th Senate.
