The Ibaji Progressive Youth Foundation (IPYF) has insisted that it will not withdraw the ongoing suit against the Chiarman of Ibaji local Government Council, William Obiora Iko-Ojo over his refusal to relocate his office to the statutory premises in Onyedega.

Speaking with Kogi Reports on Friday, IPYF National President, Comrade Apeh Kelvin, said though the group is aware of the directive to shut down the liaison office in Idah and begin council activities in Onyedega, it will pursue the court case to a logical conclusion.

IPYF had dragged the Chairman of Ibaji local government council to Kogi State High Court, Lokoja, on June 28, 2021 seeking determination of the constitutionality of citing the official Ibaji local government council liaison office and other critical offices in Idah LGA in the face of the provisions of section 7(1-6) and section 14(1-4) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

November last year, the case was transferred to Idah High Court.

“After resumed sitting in court yesterday, we decided to visit the liaison office at Idah to serve the local government chairman a letter requesting for certain information under the Freedom of Information Act 2011 when they discovered that there is a notice directing all staff to relocate from the ibaji liaison office in Idah to the Ibaji Local Government secretariat from today, 14th January, 2022

“Despite the notice for relocation, the Ibaji Progressive Youth Foundation is not satisfied. The case won’t be withdraw pending when the court gives ruling,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ibaji local government council has shut don the liaison office in Idah.

A memo signed by Augustine Fada Okolo directed all staff of Ibaji local government to resume at the LG secretariat on Friday.

He said the liaison office remains closed from Thursday, January 13, and warned that any staff who fails to adhere to the directive will be sanctioned,
