A sociopolitical group, Ijumu APC’s Genuine Group (IAPCGG), has expressed serious concerned over recent development in the ruling party.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, President of the group, Comrade Haruna Yusuf Alaho, said the ceremony where members of the caretaker/transition committee that were inaugurated in Ijumu local government on Monday was more like a mourning event, instead of celebration.
He noted that the sad turn of events was caused by silent disaffection within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the transition committee membership were largely drawn from the opposition party.
“An event that was supposed to be an atmosphere of joy and excitement turned out to be boring, scanty and drab at Iyara, the headquarters of Ijumu local government headquarters, on Monday.
“The reason for this is not far fetched. Aside the member from Ekinrin-Adde ward, all others are members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“It is curious and disheartening that the secretary, Agbona Daniel, is an opposition member. This is a ward that genuine members of APC had been winning without hassles.
“For the avoidance of doubt, those appointed and inaugurated as Ijumu caretaker committee are: Agbona Olugbemiro Daniel, Secretary, a PDP member from Iyah/Ayeh ward; Sanmi Ibitoye, Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources, a PDP member from Egbeda/Okedayo ward; Tajudeen Oyekanmi, Supervisor for Works, Housing, Land and Survey, a PDP member from Iyamoye ward; Mustapha Muinat Mosunmola, Supervisor for Education, from Aiyegunle/Iluhafon ward; Hon. Rotimi Aiyemowa, Supervisor for Health, from Iyara ward and Abidemi Olawuyi Oni, Supervisor for Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, from Ekinrin. Abidemi Oni is the only APC member in the committee.
“The shabby inauguration on Monday indicated bad signals that we as APC can not go into election with such PDP loaded council composition,” he said.
He berated the caretaker chairman, Hon Ibrahim Haruna, over the composition of the local government transition committee in Ijumu.
He said the choice of Ibrahim Haruna (aka Dstv) as caretaker chairman was “a total misplacement of selection by some leaders who are aliens in our party (APC) and have second political base in their hearts.”
He implored the leaders at the top to strongly look into Ijumu local government council composition because of future elections.
Alaho, who from same Okoro/Igah ward as the caretaker chairman, stated that appointing the Secretary of caretaker committee who is a PDP member in Iyah Ayeh ward is a red light for any future election.
He, however, congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello for fulfilling his promise of matriculating over one thousand students into Kogi State University, Kabba.
He said the incoming government under Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will nourish the legacy bequeathed by the outgoing government.
