The Media spokesperson to the former governor of Kogi state, Mr. Jacob Edi has assured well meaning Kogites and supporters of Capt. Idris Wada, of the former Governor’s victory at the Election Petitions Tribunal.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Saturday, Edi said the tribunal will soon give legal interpretations on the Kogi election impasse.

“Our quest to challenge the outcome of the last election in the state is legal not personal but in order to seek proper interpretation of the law and relevant sections of the constitution and the Electoral Act in connection with the election. The issue at stake is a constitutional one that must be given attention for the sake of posterity. In as much as I’m not preempting the Tribunal, I’m optimistic that Capt. Wada will come out victorious”, Edi said.

It could be recalled that the former Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, has filed a petition at the Tribunal challenging the declaration of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as the winner of the November 21 and December 5 governorship election in the state.

Wada is praying the Tribunal to declare him winner of the exercise, arguing that Mr Bello was not qualified to be declared winner and did not have a deputy governor, a situation he claimed disqualified him from vying for the governor’s position.

Mr Bello was a substitute for the late candidate of the APC, Prince Abubakar Audu, who died a day after the governorship election.
