A prominent community organization has condemned the recent kidnapping incident in Aiyegunle Igun, a settlement in the Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, demanding immediate deployment of security forces and accountability from elected officials.
Igbimo Atuluse, in a signed statement released by its leadership, the group described the abductions as “heinous violations of human rights and security”.
The group’s president, Hon. Barrister Segun Modeyin, signed the statement alongside the Public Relations Officer, Hon. Austine Tantoluwa Medaiyedu.

The organization called on the Nigerian Police Force, the military and relevant security agencies to scale up rescue operations without delay.
“A threat to the safety of one is a direct assault on the peace, freedom, and dignity of our entire community,” the statement read. “We refuse to accept this as our new reality.”
The tone was unambiguous. Igbimo Atuluse framed the abductions not as an isolated criminal matter but as a systemic failure of governance, placing the burden squarely on both local and state authorities.
The organization called for immediate scaling up of rescue operations with adequate personnel, proactive intelligence deployment to locate and apprehend perpetrators, enhanced security architecture, including strategic patrols and intelligence-sharing networks across the community.
Residents were also urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious movements directly to law enforcement or community leadership.
Igbimo Atuluse invoked constitutional language in targeting public officials. The statement argued that protecting lives and property is not optional for government, but a primary obligation under Nigeria’s constitution.
“Kidnapping thrives where there is impunity,” the group stated, warning that recurring abductions signal a deeper breakdown in the security architecture of the area.
The Igbimo Atuluse statement ended on a note of collective resolve. While grieving the victims’ families, the group signaled it would not be deterred from pushing for systemic change.
“Kidnapping will not break our communal spirit,” the statement concluded. “Together, we shall overcome these dark forces.”
