The Secretary to Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Council, Honourable Usman Jibrin, has called on the youths in the area to unite in the interest of peace and progress. He made the call during the final match of Igalamela Unity Cup held at Ajaka on Saturday.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon Usman Jibrin stated that his decision to host the football tournament was influenced by his realisation of the importance of sports as a vital tool for social unification. He commended the organizers for their efforts and thanked the participants for giving the audience ‘memorable magical sporting comments’.
He used the occasion to urge the youths in the area to support the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello. “Accept it or not, this is the time of the youths. Our highly esteemed governor is a youth in both mind and body. He is energetic, focused, transparent, innovative, prudent, visionary, detribalized and totally determined to lead the people of Kogi in a new and more prosperous direction” he said.
He further commended the governor’s efforts towards blocking leakages in the civil service and saving billions of naira which would have gone into selfish pockets.
He also called on the youths of in the area to come together and give their total support to the present administration in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area in order to enable it fulfill all the promises to the people.
Hon. Usman Jibrin thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the development of the local government. He also thanks to the Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Edward Onoja and Hon. Ahmed Attah, the Kogi East Youth Leader for their remarkable role in strengthening unity and equal opportunities for the youths.
“This is the greatest opportunity of my life and I am determined to ensure that I use this opportunity to make exceptional contributions towards ensuring that Igalamela/Odolu takes a New Direction towards prosperity and progress”, he added.
The match was watch by the largest number of spectators in recent memory.
