Igala People Lament Death of Ocholi, Other Prominent Sons

The death of the former minister of state for labour and productivity, James Ocholi has opened up other issues. Some people in Igala land, where Ocholi is from, are lamenting the loss of prominent politicians in Igala.
At Ocholi’s funeral, Bishops in Igala land prayed against the death of prominent Igala sons and daughters.
The narrative that the death of Ocholi, his wife; Blessing and his son, Joshua might be influenced by spiritual forces seem to have been accepted by many Igala people.
At the funeral of the late minister, the chairman of the Kogi state Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop John Ibenu asked all bishops of Igala origin to come out to the podium, where they prayed for all prominent Igala sons and daughters.
Ibenu had before then reeled out incidences of sudden and accidental deaths of prominent Igala leaders. Ibenu, who delivered the sermon at the funeral later told NAIJ.com in an interview that certain incidents among certain class of people need to be given attention.
Also speaking on the issue, Dr Ruth Abah of the Kogi state college of education said: ”I know there are powers, but God is all powerful. Nothing happens to us without the permission of the almighty.”
In his own submission, prominent Kogi politician, Ambassador Michael Friday said: ”Something is definitely wrong. we have to pray and intercede for the Igala nation.”
Ocholi was buried alongside his wife; Blessing and son, Joshua on Friday, March 18. The trio died in a fatal car crash along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Sunday, March 6.
